Zaha’s stage design for Metapolis II ballet
Jul 20th, 2007
Zaha’s office have sent us movie footage (at bottom of story) of Metapolis II - a ballet that is opening at the Lincoln Center in New York next week featuring stage designs by the architect and choreography by Frederic Flamand, the artistic director of the Ballet National de Marseille. There will be three performances on 25, 26 and 27 July.

The film shows part of the original performance of the ballet in Marseille in 2000. Zaha’s stage designs will once again feature at the Lincoln Center performances.

Here too are some photos of the performance and set, plus a clipping (below) about the collaboration from last Sunday’s New York Times.

Zaha Hadid understands dancers - we hope to see her soon doing more stage design ( paris opera , la scala , ABT .. )
and why not costumes .
her ” dancing towers ” are a graceful homage to Dance …

This is good, but the video keeps stopping which gets quite annoying when your trying to watch it.
